By Joe McDonald BOSTON _ Gil Velazquez has been optioned to Pawtucket. The infielder replaced Jed Lowrie when the shortstop was placed on the 15-day DL with a left wrist strain on April 13. At the time of his recall, Velazquez was hitting .222 in four games with the PawSox. He made his major-league debut last September with Boston. The Red Sox have not made an official announcement, or a corresponding roster move. With Boston's bullpen taxed a bit, it's possible the Sox could recall pitcher Junichi Tazawa from Double-A Portland. |
