Relief pitcher Javier Lopez, designated for assignment earlier this week to make way for rookie Daniel Bard, has cleared waivers and will join the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Lopez is 0-2 with a 9.26 E.R.A. in 14 games and 11.2 innings pitched for the big-league club this season.
