PAWTUCKET -- Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka just completed his rehab start for the PawSox.

The right-hander worked 2 2/3 innings and allowed two hits. No runs had scored when he left the game, though there were two men on when he was lifted. He struck out five, walked two and hit a batter. He threw a total of 47 pitches, 29 strikes.

He was removed from the game with two outs in the third inning.

"I think I'm ready to pitch in a game," he said. "I wouldn't go so far to say I don't need any rehab starts, but I feel physically ready. I'm ready to go through whatever rehab program that is handed to me, so health-wise I have no problems at all."
