BY JOE McDONALD BOSTON -- That noise you heard from Fenway Park was the sound of a crowd of 37,000-plus going crazy. Why? Because David Ortiz can finally be called a slugger again. Big Papi hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, to center field off Blue Jays starter Brett Cecil during a six-run Boston rally in the fifth inning. When Oritz crossed home plate, he received hugs from Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis before he was given the silent treatment for a couple of seconds in the dugout. He was then mobbed by his teammates and the fans wanted a curtain call -- he gave it to them. CommentsLeave a comment |
