Pregame tidbits: Kotsay may be headed to Pawtucket for rehab this weekend

BOSTON -- Mark Kotsay was back in the clubhouse and reported that his injured hamstring felt strong after running before batting practice.

Kotsay wasn't sure what the Sox have planned for him but Terry Francona said the talk is to send him to Pawtucket as early as this weekend.

"We're getting real close. He had a good day today," said Francona.

General manager Theo Epstein is on the road this week cross-checking prospects for the June 9 amateur draft. For the first time the draft will be held at night (6 p.m.) and live updates will be telecast on the MLB Network.

Tuesday's two-hour, 13-minute game was the fastest Red Sox nine-inning game since May 23, 2003. The Sox have played five games in less than 2:30 or less this season and Tim Wakefield has started four of those. Since 2005, the Sox have played 54 games in 2:30 or less. Wakefield has started 52 percent (28) of those games.

Kevin Youkilis was activated prior to Wednesday night's game and Gil Velazquez was sent back to Pawtucket to make room on the roster.
