Jed Lowrie walked twice -- once with the bases loaded -- and flew out in his first appearance at Triple-A Pawtucket, the final stop in his rehab from wrist surgery.

Lowrie had surgery to remove a bone in the wrist in late April, and has spent time working out in Lowell and at the Sox' complex in Florida as he works his way back. His first game action against comparable players came today with the PawSox against Durham, where he played into the fourth inning at short before giving way to Gil Velazquez.

Lowrie has reported that his wrist is healthy and strong, and manager Terry Francona said that the real issue with Lowrie is getting him into game shape and giving him time to get comfortable at the plate.

"I think his wrist is pretty strong. I think what we're trying to look for - As he gets deeper into games... just shake the rust off. He's very rusty at the plate. That's why we did the Florida thing and the Lowell thing, to try to shake the rust off," Francona said.

Lowrie is likely to spend a few weeks with Pawtucket before rejoining the major league club, where Nick Green has performed admirably in his absence.
