The Boston Red Sox have made their first three draft picks, but they have a lot more to go today when the MLB Draft resumes with the fourth round at noon today. The draft is tentatively scheduled to go to the 30th round today, and then resume with the final 20 rounds tomorrow. While the players selected around the league today won't have names as well-known as the ones called yesterday, a few players will almost certainly go on to good pro careers -- as Kevin Youkilis did. The Red Sox' first baseman was Boston's eighth-round pick in the 2001 draft. Three years later he was making his big-league debut, and seven years later he was playing in the All-Star Game. Red Sox teammates Jason Bay, Mike Lowell and John Smoltz were each selected higher than the 20th round -- by the Expos, Yankees and Tigers, respectively. |
