The Pawtucket Red Sox game scheduled for tonight against Charlotte has been rained out, meaning Clay Buchholz will have his turn in the rotation pushed back several days.
The game will be made up tomorrow, as part of a doubleheader. The first game will be played at 5:35 p.m., and lefty Kris Johnson will get the start, after spending two weeks at Single-A Lowell in an effort to sort out
The second game will follow after the conclusion of the first matchup, and Charlie Zink will pitch. Zink was scheduled to pitch Wednesday, but now Buchholz will probably take his spot.
Minor league doubleheaders last seven innings.
Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson seemed frustrated after the game -- he and his team clearly wanted to play.
"It's frustrating, that's a tough one tonight. dawg-gone it, everybody wants to play, people are doing what they can to get us in the best situation, and darn rain comes and screws it up. "
Johnson tried to find the silver lining following the game. The team was just coming off a road trip that took them to two different cities, and perhaps, he said, getting the day off could be good for the team.
"You never know. After traveling, and that game that was long as heck yesterday -- we did all our work onfield today, so maybe it's a good thing."
