BY KEVIN McNAMARA PAWTUCKET - John Smoltz just breezed through innings of nine, nine and six pitches to cruise through his six innings of work tonight at McCoy Stadium. Smoltz just walked off the mound, tipped his hat to the crowd and shook hands with Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson. He's thrown 74 pitches (51 strikes) and limited the Durham Bulls to one run on one hit. Smoltz retired the last 10 hitters he faced, walked two and struck out three. The Pawsox lead, 2-1. We'll have more from Smoltz when he becomes available. |
