PAWTUCKET - John Smoltz has settled down and found a groove at McCoy Stadium.

The veteran pitcher has limited the Durham Bulls to one run on one hit through five innings. The Sox lead, 2-1, on homers by Jeff Bailey and Chip Ambres.

Smoltz has thrown only 68 pitches so we expect him to come out for the sixth inning. The Red Sox were hoping he'd have to 'get up and down six times,' according to Pawtucket manager Ron Johnson.
