couple of baseball writers are weighing in today on what the A.L. East might look like if the Red Sox had outspent the Yankees for Mark Teixeira, who led the Major Leagues with 13 homers and 34 RBI in May. Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com points out that Boston would not have to be so worried about David Ortiz's numbers if they had inked Teixeria. Read the column here. Joel Sherman of the New York Post says that prior to signing Teixeira, the Yankees hadn't beaten the Red Sox at anything important since at least 2004.
