Aaron Bates called up to Boston, inserted into lineup

Joe McDonald reports that Aaron Bates will make his major-league debut for the Red Sox tonight; he will be playing first base and batting ninth.

Bates has been called up from Pawtucket in place of Jeff Bailey, who has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Here's tonight's Red Sox lineup:
