BOSTON _ With his two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, David Ortiz collected his 1,000th hit as a member of the Red Sox.

On Thursday, he became a member of the 300-homer club. Ortiz becomes the 30th player to reach the 1,000-hit plateau with the Sox.
