BOSTON -- The laser-light show equals 300 for David Ortiz. The Red Sox slugger just hit a two-run opposite-field line-drive homer into the Monster Seats to give Boston a 3-0 lead over the Royals in the bottom of the first inning. Ortiz took Kansas City starter Luke Hochevar deep on a 2-and-2 offering. Ortiz becomes the first player since Manny Ramirez (August 2002) to hit his 300th homer with the Red Sox. Ortiz now has 11 this season. -- JOE McDONALD |
