FoxSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Red Sox, having found no team willing to take Julio Lugo in a trade, will designate the veteran shortstop for assignment later today. That means Lugo will be removed from the active roster and the Sox will have 10 days to either trade or release him. Rosenthal says the move will likely lead to Lugo's release.
