The Pawtucket Red Sox lost to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 4-1, tonight in Pennsylvania, but the bigger news from the came involved roster moves that were made afterward.
Outfielders Brian Anderson and Joey Gathright are headed to Florida to join the Boston team, while Josh Papelbon -- brother of Red Sox closer Jonathan -- has been promoted to Double-A Portland.
Gathright, 28, a recent acquisition by the Red Sox, has major-league experience with the Devil Rays, the Royals and the Cubs. He's hit .325 in 82 Triple-A games with Norfolk and Pawtucket.
Anderson, 27, whom the Red Sox got from the White Sox in the Mark Kotsay trade, has hit just .211 with Pawtucket in 23 games since the trade. He made a brief appearance on the Red Sox roster earlier this summer.
Josh Papelbon, 26, was 5-2 with a 2.87 ERA in 34 relief appearances with Single-A Salem this season, striking out 40 and walking 15 in 59.2 innings.
