Bailey begins rehab assignment

First baseman Jeff Bailey has been put on rehab assignment, and could be back in his familiar Pawtucket Red Sox uniform by tomorrow.

Bailey has been rehabbing a high ankle sprain with the major league club for the past month, ever since he was injured on a play at first base in early July.

Bailey left the team tonight to begin his assignment. The 1B/OF is hitting .209 with three home runs and nine RBI this season.
