BOSTON -- With the Mets and Red Sox exchanging Billy Wagner for two players to be named later, and Pawtucket outfielder Chris Carter mysteriously disappearing from the lineup for five straight days, speculation abounded that Carter was one of the two players. It turns out that Carter was in fact headed to New York, but it now appears that the 27-year-old outfielder won't be going anywhere for the time being. While Carter was originally to be included in the Mets deal, the Yankees have stepped in and claimed the 1B/OF, prompting the Red Sox to pull him back, and blocking him from being traded until after the season. Carter should finish out the year with Pawtucket before heading to New York in the offseason. -- DANIEL BARBARISI CommentsLeave a comment |
