BOSTON _ Former short-term Red Sox pitcher John Smoltz said his new teammates in St. Louis told him that he was tipping his pitches while he was with Boston.

While it appears the veteran right-hander believes it, especially given the fact he earned the victory and pitched well in his first appearance for the Cardinals on Sunday, Red Sox manager Terry Francona doesn't seem to agree.

Francona was asked Monday afternoon whether he thought Smoltz did in fact tip his pitches, the Sox' manager simply shook his head no.
