Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports says that the Red Sox chances of landing the Mets' Billy Wagner are fading. According to Rosenthal, Wagner wants to have the option of leaving after the 2009 season. For their part, the Red Sox are not willing to guarantee that they will not exercise Wagner's 2010 club option. The Red Sox also reportedly want to have the choice of offering salary arbitration to the 38-year-old lefty. The Sox and Mets have until Tuesday to work out a deal.
