Catcher Dusty Brown and shortstop Jed Lowrie were both recalled to Boston after the PawSox season-ending game in Syracuse Sunday afternoon.

Lowrie was on a rehab assignment on a comeback from ulnar neuritis in his left wrist. He went 0-for-3 Monday to end his PawSox season on a 3-for-27 slide. He also did a little verbal dance when asked how his wrist feels.

"At this point, it's just about managing it and doing what I can to help (Boston) win,'' he said. "It's something I have to deal with. It's fine. It's not 100 percent.''

Brown, in his ninth season in the organization, made his major-league debut in a brief promotion to the Red Sox earlier this season. He hit .264 in 86 games for Pawtucket this season.

"I didn't think it [a call-up] was very likely, given the catching situation in Boston,'' Brown said. "I couldn't be more ecstatic. I just tried to play out the last few games, play as well as I can and hope for the best.''

It was also a good day for PawSox manager Ron Johnson. His son Chris was promoted from Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League to the Houston Astros on Monday.

Johnson, a 24-year-old third baseman, is making his first trip to the big leagues. He hit .281 with 13 home runs, 20 doubles and 42 RBI in 104 games for Round Rock.

"It's a really good day,'' said Ron Johnson, who found out via several text messages after the game.

And dad's advice?

"Swing hard in case you hit it,'' he said.
