ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Manny Delcarmen walked through the visitor's clubhouse at Angel Stadium completely drenched, wearing a black T-shirt and black spandex shorts. He had just emerged from the hot tub as he continues to receive treatment for a stiff neck and back. The right-hander was involved in a car accident on I-93 last Saturday while he was driving to Fenway Park. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and released. He was able to play catch at 90 feet on Sunday but had to stop because his neck started to stiffen up. Delcarmen attempted to play long toss at 120 feet on Monday, but again had to cut it short because of stiffness. It's likely Terry Francona will go with 10 pitchers on the roster, which means Delcarmen could be the odd man out in this series. "We don't have to set our roster today, so it would be kind of silly to [make an announcement on whether nor Delcarmen will be active]," said the manager. "We'll take inventory of where everybody is. I think we all know how we feel about everybody, or if this works or doesn't work. We just want to let it fall at its own pace . . . I think he feels pretty good. This is as good as he's felt. This is hopefully a good first step for him. Where this goes, we really don't know yet." Delcarmen said Tuesday afternoon before he was scheduled to play catch that he's feeling better, even though he feels tightness when he turns his head to the right. "I can pitch and as long as I can keep guys off second base, I'll be fine," he said with a smile. -- JOE McDONALD CommentsLeave a comment |

Good...........maybe this will keep Manny off the mound for the rest of 2009! It's time for Delcarmen to move on
