The New York Post today reports that Steve Phillips, the former New York Mets general manager who is now a baseball analyst for ESPN, had a sexual relationship with a 22-year-old production assistant who then allegedly made threatening and taunting phone calls to Phillips' wife after he ended the affair. Citing an unnamed source, the Post reports that Phillips has been suspended by the network for a week. ESPN declined to comment for the story. According to statements that Phillips made to police in Wilton, Conn., ESPN assistant Brooke Hundley's actions culminated in her leaving for Phillips' wife at the family home bragging about the affair, and then accidentally smashing her car into a stone column as she attempted to speed away. Phillips, who is 46, declined to press criminal charges against Hundley. His wife, Marni, is now suing him for divorce, the Post reports. Eleven years ago, Phillips took a leave of absence as Mets GM after admitting to having sex with a team employee. He has admitted to multiple affairs during his tenure with the Mets.
