manny_1021.jpgManny Ramirez was not on the field in the ninth inning of Monday night's playoff game in Philadelphia, when the Dodgers lost a 4-3 lead on Jimmy Rollins' walk-off two-run double that brought Los Angeles to within one game of elimination. That wasn't his fault; Joe Torre pulled Ramirez for defensive replacement Juan Pierre.

But Ramirez was apparently so sure of his closer, Jonathan Broxton (or so indifferent about the ultimate outcome), that he didn't stick around to watch the game from the dugout, either. Instead, by Ramirez's own admission, he went straight to the shower, and only found out that his team lost the game when he saw the highlight later on.

Torre tried to shrug off Ramirez's decision to make like a Dodger fan and make an early exit. "He's a cool customer," Torre said. "But he certainly didn't have any lack of respect because of that. I think the way it turned out, it probably doesn't look good. But it's nothing different than he had done before."

Ramirez clearly wasn't letting the loss bother him, saying that after Monday night's game he "slept like a baby." Click here to read more.
