Former Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez will make his first postseason start since he won Game Two of the 2004 World Series on Saturday night, when the Phillies visit the Colorado Rockies, Philadelphia manager Charlie Manuel has announced.
The decision was expected after the Phillies used two of their other regular-season starters, Joe Blanton and J.A. Happ, in relief of Game Two starter Cole Hamels, whose outing ended early when his wife went into labor.
The game is scheduled to start at 9:30 Saturday night, but with temperatures forecast to be around 30 degrees with the possibility of snow. Martinez is 6-2 with a 3.40 ERA in 13 postseason games, 11 of them starts.
