pedro_1015.jpgPedro Martinez had been scheduled to make his first postseason start in five years last weekend. But Martinez's start was postponed due to bad weather in Denver, and then the Phillies decided to pass over him entirely because of concerns about how he would do in the cold.

The cold won't be an issue in Los Angeles, where the forecast on Friday afternoon is for a high of 83 degrees. And manager Charlie Manuel has decided that Martinez will be his starter for Game Two of the National League Championship Series, which is scheduled for 4 o'clock that day.

Martinez was a modest success since joining the Phillies in mid-August. He went 5-1 with a 3.63 ERA in nine starts. Rust could be a big problem, though, as Martinez has pitched exactly seven innings in the last month.

Still, Red Sox fans might get a kick out of seeing Martinez face Manny Ramirez, who is planted firmly in the middle of the Dodgers' lineup.
