Hazen to stay with Red Sox, according to report

Red Sox director of player development Mike Hazen has decided to turn down a an offer to be assistant general manager with the San Diego Padres, according to a report by Amalie Benjamin of The Boston Globe. The Padres' offer would have reunited Hazen with Jed Hoyer, the former Red Sox assistant general manager who has accepted the GM's job in San Diego.

Hazen is a former player in the Padres' minor-league system. He joined the Red Sox' front office in 2006.
