With baseball's Winter Meetings wrapping up tomorrow, Sox general manager Theo Epstein expects to leave Indianapolis without a major signing or trade -- meaning no re-signing of Jason Bay or acquiring Matt Holliday.
"I don't think we'll make a blockbuster between now and then, but something small could always come up," Epstein said.
Bay's agent, Joe Urbon, has been busy working the phones today, but the Sox haven't been one of the teams he's talked to. The Sox did meet with Holliday's agent, Scott Boras (receiving Boras' trademark player books for their time) but came away from the meeting without feeling the need to rush to sign the player.
Epstein said that they have laid the foundation, however, on a number of smaller moves that may come to fruition soon, or later in the month.
