Veteran catcher Kevin Cash was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and likely will catch one of the two ends of the day-night doubleheader the Red Sox play on Wednesday. The catcher had two hits in his two rehab games -- one with Single-A Lowell and one with Triple-A Pawtucket.

Dusty Brown was optioned back to Pawtucket to make room for Cash. Brown made one appearance in his second stint with the Red Sox this season, hitting a two-run double in a rout at the hands of Toronto last Friday.
