Arroyo lets Ohio know his heart's still in Boston

Bronson Arroyo arrived late yesterday afternoon at the Cincinnati Reds' clubhouse in Sarasota, Fla., and, according to a report in the Dayton Daily News (must register to view), he was still making clear his regret over the trade Monday that sent him away from the Sox.

The Daily News' Hal McCoy writes that Reds' pitcher Kent Mercker greeted Arroyo by announcing, "Our karaoke team just improved," a reference to Arroyo's release of a rock cover album last year. Justice B. Hill, writing for mlb.com, said that Ken Griffey Jr. welcomed Arroyo and noted the relaxed atmosphere around Reds camp, compared with the media frenzy in Boston. "This is the way we do it in Cincinnati," Griffey said, according to Hill's story. "You won't have 35 guys around you."

Arroyo, meanwhile, was not exactly warming up to his new surroundings, noting again that he would rather pitch out of the bullpen at Fenway than start for any other team.

"The most promising thing is that I'll get 35 starts," said Arroyo, wearing the number 61 he also sported with Boston, according to McCoy. "I won't have to worry about getting left out of the rotation." McCoy reported that Arroyo is in line to start for the Reds on Saturday against the Twins.
