Gomes' reaction to brawl

BOSTON -- Jonny Gomes, who was front and center in last night's brawl, explained his side of the story to reporters:

"With Coco’s slide, it was almost premeditiated. He did say that and we read the papers and we watch TV, so I think everyone was on their toes.

"Like I said, nothing ever good comes out of this. We don’t want to hurt anybody and we don’t want to get hurt . . . but when you mix it up with a bunch of testosterone with 25 grown men, odds are punches are gonna get thrown if you have the opportunity.

True...and it was great watching Coco get pummeled. Crawford made it in before any Sox player. Could it be that the Sox don't care for Crisp and took their sweet time getting to the mound? Hmmmmmmm

Gomes was trying to forget the fact that Bartlett committed the original sin also... After hitting Petey in the first and then The intentional HBP on Coco showed the Rays new it was coming and sprinted like jackrabbits to the mound. I found it interesting that Gomes acted like a little child, not a man, and waited till Coco was tied up with the catcher to started smacking around. Then Crawford became a fifth man in punching and kicking like a baby girl in a free for all. And they wonder why no one respects them? If they thought Coco was wrong (when he wasn't with the players code on sliding and knees) than they should of started their retaliation for his retaliation by a hard slide when or if they got some one on first. Small fry always seem to think they did nothing wrong. Or they have no respect for the game. Devil Rays should of been renamed the lil' Rays instead I guess.

Pummeled? Haha. Did you actually see the fight? Coco had 4 guys on him and came out with nothing but scratches. Not a single mark.

Or maybe crawford was already on the field and knew the pitch was coming while the sox never thought the rays would give the game away in the second inning? Hmmmmmmm"
